The confirmed field for the 2027 Randox Grand National — updated as entries, weights and declarations are announced.
In short: the 2027 Grand National field — up to 34 runners — is confirmed in stages: entries first, the weights in February 2027, then final declarations in the days before the race. We'll publish the full runners, riders, trainers and weights here as they're announced.
The Grand National field is built over several months. Entries are taken well in advance, the handicapper publishes the weights in February, and the final line-up — with jockeys confirmed — is declared a few days before the race. Because it's a handicap for up to 34 runners, the shape of the field can change right up to the final stage.
When the runners are confirmed, the details that matter most are each horse's recent form over staying trips and fences, the weight it's been allotted, its age and stamina, and the strength of its yard — top Grand National trainers such as Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott are typically well represented.
I Am Maximus (Willie Mullins / Paul Townend) won the 2026 renewal at 9/2, becoming the first horse to regain the title since Red Rum. You can see the full recent roll of honour on our previous winners page.
Up to 34 horses can line up following recent safety changes. Horses must be at least seven years old and meet specific rating requirements to qualify.
Entries open months in advance, the weights are published in February 2027, and the final field is confirmed at the declaration stage a few days before the race.
The Grand National is a handicap: each horse is allotted a weight by the handicapper based on its official rating, so higher-rated horses carry more.
